International data roaming and calling

Data roaming is when you use your phone on a network that isn’t your current provider. This most commonly happens when you are abroad. As you’re communicating over another network, there’s often a cost involved with roaming.

No, you don’t need to use data roaming whilst you’re in the UK. If you use data in the UK, you’ll be charged our standard data rate of 10p per MB. If you have a bundle activated, you’ll use your data allowance as normal.

Yes, you’ll first need to switch data roaming on through your online account. Once logged in, navigate to My Profile; you’ll find data roaming under Features.

You’ll also need to activate data roaming on your mobile phone. This varies depending on the device, consult your manual to find out how.

Yes, you’ll also need to activate international calling through your online account. You can do this through My Profile.

Unfortunately not. If your phone does not support 5G, you’ll have to buy a new phone which is 5G compatible.

Data roaming and international calling is included in our monthly bundles, so you can call and text whilst you're abroad. We will notify you when you reach the 80% and 100% of the data limit. To check your next destination is included in our data roaming take a look at our EU destinations.

All bundle customers have up to a 5GB data roaming limit. After using 5GB, you'll pay 10p per subsequent MB - same as in the UK. You'll be notified once you've reached 80% and 100% of your data limit.

Data roaming charges means the higher prices of using different mobile networks when using your phone overseas. You should always check if you have data roaming included with your network provider to avoid extra charges.

VoLTE Roaming is also known as 4G Calling abroad. 4G Calling abroad lets you make and receive calls over 4G while roaming and is the same as 4G Calling in the UK. 4G Calling abroad is available in selected destinations with a compatible device.
